What We Treat
Whiplash, stiffness, pain that showed up a day or two after the crash: we work with your claim so healing isn't held up. It's fixable, and it starts with a cause-first evaluation, not a guess.

Why It Happens
A collision moves your body faster than your muscles can brace for it. That sudden force strains the soft tissue in your neck and back, the muscles, ligaments, and joint capsules, even when there's no fracture and the ER scan comes back clear. Your body's instinct afterward is to guard the area, tightening up around it, which feels protective but actually keeps it from moving the way it needs to in order to heal.
None of that shows up on an X-ray. It takes a real, cause-first evaluation to find exactly which tissues were strained and how the guarding pattern is holding you back. That's why "give it time" so often isn't enough on its own: the guarding doesn't resolve by itself.
You're the one who shakes it off and gets back behind the wheel because everyone's counting on you to be fine. Which is exactly why you're the last one to admit the headache hasn't gone away. We also handle the paperwork with your insurance, so healing is the only thing you have to manage.
The Honest Truth
Nobody regrets starting too early. Every week, someone in our clinic says they regret waiting after their accident.
How We Fix It
Every plan has an endpoint. Here's what the four phases look like after a crash.
Weeks 1–2
Pain
Hands-on techniques calm the strained tissue and take the edge off inflammation, starting your very first visit.
Weeks 2–6
Prime
Targeted mobility work restores motion in the neck and back segments that have been bracing since the crash.
Weeks 6–10
Perform
Progressive strengthening builds back the neck, shoulder, and core support that weakened while you were guarding.
Weeks 10+
Prevent
Driving, lifting, and turning your head fully get tested under real conditions before you're cleared: that's the endpoint, not just another appointment.
Dr. Pepper Physical Therapy provides the excellent treatment and personal attention that makes for a smooth recovery process.

Questions, Answered
Not necessarily. A clear X-ray rules out fractures, it doesn't rule out the soft tissue strain that causes most crash-related pain. We start with a hands-on evaluation to find what's actually driving your symptoms, and if further imaging ever becomes genuinely necessary, we'll help you get it. You don't have to wait on a scan to start feeling better.
Yes, in most cases, movement helps more than rest does. Staying completely still lets the guarding pattern set in deeper, which sets up more stiffness down the road. The key is dosing the right movement for your injury, which is exactly what a Doctor of PT sorts out at your evaluation, then progresses safely as you improve.
Most patients feel meaningful change within 4–6 visits. A full plan for accident recovery runs through all four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform, and Prevent, typically over 8–10 weeks, depending on how severe the injury was. Either way, you get a plan with an endpoint and documented visits your insurance can follow, not an open-ended string of appointments.
