Dr. Amanda Austin

PT, DPT

Physical Therapist

I grew up in Copperas Cove, Texas, located between Waco and Austin, where I trained as a competitive dancer for eight years. I then attended Texas A&M University (whoop!) in College Station, earning a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Dance Science. This program allowed me to continue dancing in college while completing the prerequisite coursework for physical therapy school. I went on to attend Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, where I earned my Doctor of Physical Therapy in December 2025.

Having grown up as a competitive dancer and now training as a classical ballet student, I have developed a deep appreciation for movement. My experience teaching dance has significantly shaped my approach to treatment as a physical therapist, allowing me to effectively educate patients and help them better understand their bodies and movement patterns. During my clinical rotations, I had the opportunity to travel across the United States, intentionally seeking out programs specializing in dance medicine. In addition to working with the dance population, I have experience treating a diverse range of patients, from young athletes to older adults. Most of my clinical experience is in outpatient orthopedics, with additional exposure to acute care and vestibular rehabilitation. I am also trained in manual therapy, functional PNF, dry needling, and Pilates.

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. ” – Matthew 5:16 (NIV)

One challenge I have observed in today’s physical therapy practice is the tendency for patients to receive “cookie-cutter” treatment plans, regardless of their individual goals, backgrounds, or movement patterns. While these approaches may be efficient, they often fail to address the unique needs of each patient and can limit both engagement in their recovery and long-term outcomes. My goal as a clinician is to move beyond this one-size-fits-all model by providing highly individualized, patient-centered care, where they can take an active role in their rehabilitation and health.

I specialize in treating overuse injuries, post-operative shoulder and knee conditions, vestibular disorders, and sports- and dance-related injuries. My treatment philosophy centers on a hands-on, whole-body approach, combining manual therapy with individualized exercise programs tailored to each patient’s goals. Whether I am helping an older adult return to cooking after a rotator cuff tear, supporting a mother in building the core strength needed to care for her child, or guiding a soccer player back to the field after ACL surgery, I strive to provide care that is both personalized and purposeful.

I enjoy treating shoulder impingement, hip flexor strains, patellofemoral pain, ankle sprains, and benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV).

At Dr. Pepper Physical Therapy, I really enjoy the collaborative team dynamic and the Christ-centered environment, which creates a supportive and encouraging workplace. I value how we treat patients one-on-one, taking the time to understand their individual needs, build trust, and celebrate their progress over time. The clinicians and staff are not only highly skilled but also genuinely friendly, which makes it easy to collaborate and learn from each other every day. I also appreciate the variety of equipment and tools available, which allows me to tailor treatments to each patient and provide the most effective care possible (I am so excited about our new Pilates Reformer/Tower!). Being part of a clinic that emphasizes both professional excellence and personal connection makes my work incredibly rewarding.

I love traveling, taking ballet and Pilates classes, and spending time with family and friends. You will also often find me planning weekend trips or mapping out where to eat on vacation.

Patient Testimonials

I had the pleasure of working with the future Dr. Amanda Austin following a complex triple arthrodosis procedure, and I cannot recommend her highly enough. From the very beginning, she demonstrated an exceptional level of professionalism, knowledge, and genuine care. She approached every session with patience, encouragement, and a clear commitment to my well-being. Her ability to combine clinical skills with compassion created an environment where I felt both confident and motivated to make progress.

I have just finished my eight weeks with Agile PT and I have to say that I’m very pleased with the progress I made. A big shout out to Destiny for her amazing help with my hip issues and bursitis. When I first started coming, I had trouble going up stairs without pain. That was my major issue but I also needed to become pain free in sitting and being able to walk for exercise. Destiny was very patient in working with me and also made it a pleasant experience with her bright and fun outlook. She really made going to PT a positive experience instead of something to dread. I had a couple of sessions with Brailey and she was awesome as well! Amanda was finishing up her internship and would help out some and I know she’ll make a great PT too. All in all, I highly recommend Agile as I’ve come back to them over the years when my doctor had recommended them and Lisa especially. Thank you all for helping me be able to leave today pain free and not dreading going upstairs anymore! You all are great and as a side note, even the building is beautiful and peaceful and is in a beautiful setting! I have already recommended you to my friends that need PT. Thank you so much!

Awesome place for physical therapy and rehabilitation! Brailey and Amanda did a great job getting my injury back to 100% and making the sessions enjoyable well! Would highly recommend for anyone in need of a physical therapist!
